'Falls Awareness Week'

Next week, 19th to the 23rd September, is ‘Falls Awareness Week’. Public Health Wales expect 132,000 older people will fall more than once in their home. One of the saddest aspects is that each year more than 1,400 older people will lose their independence as a result of a fall. Many lose their self-confidence and seek some form of sheltered accommodation, perhaps many years before they intended such a move.

Please can we encourage you to help.

If you are speaking to an older person, whether in work or private time, please ask the following 3 questions

  1. Have you fallen in the last 12 months?
  2. Do you know why, and do you remember where?
  3. Do you want to do something to help stop you falling again?

If the answer to the last question is yes, then please direct people here for more information and resources https://www.careandrepair.org.uk/en/projects/prevent-fall-falls-are-not-inevitable-part-growing-older/
