Communities First South Cluster - Seeking Delivery Partners

As part of their procurement process, Communities First South Cluster are seeking expressions of interest from organisations / individuals who are able to deliver training at various community settings across the cluster. The South Cluster area covers the lower half of Merthyr Tydfil which includes the electoral wards of Plymouth, Merthyr Vale, Treharris and Bedlinog.

Interested parties should have wide experience, a good track record, and an appreciation of the diverse needs of delivering training within the community. They will also need to work closely with the Communities First team and, comply with the requirements of Welsh Government in relation to monitoring and evaluation.

At this time we are looking for potential partners who can deliver the following:

  • Delivery of Food Hygiene training level 2
  • Delivery of First Aid training Level 2
  • Delivery of Manual Handling training level 2
  • Delivery of PTS 10 day course
  • Delivery of CSCS training and CSCS testing (with health and safety qualification)
  • Primary School Physical Activity Sessions 
  • Secondary Physical Activity Sessions
  • Food and Nutrition School Programme / Adult Programme
  • Peer Support Programme
  • Reducing Low Birth Weight
  • Healthier Lifestyles Activities Programme
  • Supporting Flying Start in the Early Years
  • Fitness Taster Sessions
  • Children’s Activities
  • Nails
  • Massage/Reflexology

WCVA Volunteer of the Year Awards


Nominations can now be submitted for the WCVA's  Wales Volunteer of the Year Awards 2015. It would be much appreciated if you could highlight this to your members, as we’d love to get as many nominations as possible in all 6 of the categories which are:

·         Individual (age 25 and over)

·         young volunteer (under 25 years), supported by GwirVol

·         groups

·         ‘green’ volunteer, supported by Environment Wales

·         trustee

·         international volunteer.

Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards


Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Open to Applications (UK)

Grants of between £500 and £2,500 are available to registered charities and not for profit organisations that are based in areas in the UK where Tesco has stores.

Funding is available to provide practical benefits, such as equipment and resources for projects that directly benefit either health, sustainability or opportunities for young people. Projects that may receive support include the following:

  • Health:
    • Improving diets and encouraging healthy eating.
    • Involvement in sport and physical activity.
  • Opportunities for young people:
    • Education and training programmes which develop key skill that prepare young people for work, no matter what career they want to pursue.
    • Support to vulnerable, disengaged groups and young people in long term unemployment.
    • Learning programmes for young people with disabilities.
    • Access to information, skills and opportunities young people need to start successful careers.
  • Environmental sustainability:
    • Helping people reduce the amount of food they throw away at home.
    • Helping people recycle more or save more energy or water.
    • Local eco initiatives in the community that contribute to global environmental impact.
    • Projects that encourage sustainable living.
    • Wildlife conservation projects.
The deadline for applications is 24 April 2015.

Crystal Trophy - application deadline approaching

The closing date for this year's Crystal Trophy awards is this coming Friday 20th March.   

As well as an actual crystal trophy, the overall winner will receive £1500. The next three runners up each receive prize money too!  Could you be a winner this year?

Take a look at the information leaflet and if you feel your project / groups meets the brief then what have you got to lose?  Complete the application form and send it back by Friday.

Free Consultation from Renew Wales

Renew Wales exists to support 3rd sector organisations in climate change type work.
Aspects that this covers could include:-
  •  Insulation / energy efficiency improvements to community buildings
  • Renewable energy projects (most commonly PV solar on halls,  etc)
  • Flood and rain water control projects
  • Landscape projects to reduce high energy cost maintenance, drought tolerance etc
All organisations that sign up will get 5 days free consultation and depending on the project another 5 days free project mentoring.
