About Cancer Aid

We believe no one should face cancer alone. We provide support to cancer patients, carers and anyone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis. We are an independent local charity, at the heart of the Merthyr Tydfil community. We provide practical and emotional support to patients from diagnosis to living with, and beyond cancer. We also provide family bereavement support.  We are looking to appoint a trustee to join our Board in a voluntary capacity to act as our secretary and to help continue our mission to support cancer patients and carers living within Merthyr Tydfil as we come out of the coronavirus pandemic.

About our Board

We have a collaborative Board of friendly and committed trustees, who, with our principal manager and staff, have established a charity that supports cancer patients and families at the time they need it most. As we move on from the pandemic, we are looking for a Board Secretary to join our team and support our mission.

About the Secretary role

We wish to appoint a Board Secretary who can draw on their skills and experience to both act as a trustee and to support our Board in a secretarial role. This includes supporting our board meetings and taking accurate minutes.

The expected time commitment is a minimum of 7 board meetings including an AGM, in addition to attending other meetings or events when required. Preparation is required for reading reports and meeting papers ahead of any scheduled meeting.
