The
Mid Glamorgan Youth Community Awards were set up in 2008 when finance was
pledged by local firms, organisations and individuals in the County to support
young people who were volunteering.
Each
year, The High Sheriff of Mid Glamorgan awards young people, aged between 11
& 21yrs, up to £1000 if they have helped anyone in their neighbourhood.
The
idea behind the awards scheme is to encourage community spirit, by financially
rewarding individuals or groups who have shown commitment and given of their time
and effort, doing over and above what would normally be expected, whether for
an organisation, a family member or any other individual.
The closing date for this year’s nominations is fast approaching –
in fact, the 22nd of this month!
Please,
if you know someone who you think deserves to be recognised for any good work
that they have done, put in a nomination - it would be great to see a young
person/group from Merthyr Tydfil being recognised in this year’s Awards presentation
evening in March.
