A one-day course

This course offers participants a broader understanding of how autism can impact on early development, play and social interaction. This deeper understanding can underpin positive and progressive relationships with autistic children. Strategies for promoting engagement, play and language development are explored, along with positive responses to behaviours found in autism that can challenge professionals and families. This course is for all those working with autistic children and their families who wish to deepen their understanding and enlarge their skills base with this cohort of children.

The course will cover: 
  • Current views on the nature and features of Autism
  • Evidence-based approaches in play, social development, family well-being and behaviour
  • Strategies to support communication and shared attention

About the Trainer 
Gabrielle Eisele is a BAPT qualified Play Therapist and has been working with children and young people across the UK for over 30 years. Gabrielle has worked with children and young people in such diverse roles as specialist advocate for disabled children and young people, special needs development worker, Adviser for the Family Fund Trust, Portage worker, secondary school teacher, college and university lecturer, and child worker for Women's Aid, as well as providing training in all areas of child welfare and development, disability awareness and Autism across Wales.

Gabrielle's academic background is in psychology, with a BSc (Hons), MSc in Psychology, Advanced Diploma in Positive Behaviour Support, MA in Developmental and Therapeutic Play and an MSc in Play Therapy. Gabrielle works in private therapy practice and is the director and founder of The Windfall Centre in mid-Wales. Gabrielle is also the parent of an autistic child.

Mae'r cwrs ar gyfer rheolwyr ac ymarferwyr sydd am ddangos bod ei ymyrraeth wedi gwneud gwahaniaeth i'r bobl a gefnogir ganddynt. Mae cyllidebau dan bwysau a rhaid i bob sefydliad ystyried darbodusrwydd ac effeithlonrwydd, ond mae'n bwysig cadw golwg ar effeithiolrwydd gwasanaethau. Bydd y cwrs yn edrych ar bwysigrwydd mesur canlyniadau meddal y mae eich ymyrraeth wedi eu cyflawni i'r bobl yr ydych yn gweithio gyda nhw. Bydd cyfranogwyr yn archwilio ystod eang o offer creadigol y gellir eu defnyddio gyda phob grwp o blant i bobl ifanc.

  • Ymagweddau seiliedig ar dystiolaeth at chwarae, datblygiad cymdeithasol, lles teulu ac ymddygiad
  • Strategaethau i gefnogi cyfathrebu a rhannu sylw 
Ynghylch yr Hyfforddwr 
Therapydd Chwarae sydd â chymhwyster BAPT yw Gabrielle Eisele, ac mae hi wedi bod yn gweithio gyda phlant a phobl ifanc ar draws y Deyrnas Unedig ers dros 30 mlynedd. Mae Gabrielle wedi gweithio gyda phlant a phobl ifanc mewn rolau mor amrywiol ag eiriolwr arbenigol ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc anabl,  gweithiwr datblygu anghenion arbennig, Ymgynghorydd i Ymddiriedolaeth Cronfa'r Teulu, gweithiwr Portage, athrawes ysgol uwchradd, darlithydd coleg a phrifysgol, a gweithiwr plant i Cymorth i Fenywod, yn ogystal â darparu hyfforddiant ym mhob maes sy'n ymwneud â lles a datblygiad plant, ymwybyddiaeth o anabledd ac Awtistiaeth ledled Cymru.

Ym maes seicoleg y mae cefndir academaidd Gabrielle, gyda BSc (Anrh), MSc mewn Seicoleg, Diploma Uwch mewn Cynnal Ymddygiad Cadarnhaol, MA mewn Chwarae Datblygiadol a Therapiwtig, ac MSc mewn Therapi Chwarae. Mae Gabrielle yn ymarfer therapi yn breifat, a hi yw cyfarwyddwr a sylfaenydd Canolfan Windfall yng nghanolbarth Cymru. Mae Gabrielle hefyd yn rhiant i blentyn awtistig.
