Comic Relief Community Fund in Wales
Funding from the Comic Relief Community Fund in Wales to support community led organisations.
Comic Relief and Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW) partners recognise the great work that community led organisations do across Wales and want to help organisations to build their own capacity in a sustainable and impactful way.
Small Grants - £1,000 - £10,000
The aim of this fund is to ensure that comic relief grassroots funding is reached by the community groups leading change and growth in their locality, enabling them to make positive changes in response to the specific needs of the community.
The Small Grant is administered by Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil for RCT, Merthyr and Bridgend areas. The application form, project finances spreadsheet and guidance for small grants (£1,000 – £10,000) can be requested via grants@vamt.net
COMIC RELIEF’S STRATEGIC THEMES
All successful applications will demonstrate a contribution to one of Comic Relief’s four Strategic Themes
Actions to give children the best start in life and access to opportunities to achieve their potential
Gender justice
Actions to improve equality for women and girls
A safe place to be
Actions to help vulnerable people improve their circumstances and safety
Mental health matters
Actions to enable access to support and increase awareness
ELIGIBILITY
Organisations with a socially focused purpose and an income of less than £250,000 are eligible to apply. There is £900,000 available in total grants.
TIMEFRAME
The application window is open from 19 April 2022, closing 27 June 2022.
The earliest activity can begin is the 22 August 2022 ending no later than 30 August 2023.

Valleys Steps - Can They Help You?
Valleys Steps was established as a well-being charity to help people to help themselves.
They promote an understanding of why things are the way they are and show how we all can take steps to improving everyday well-being.
At the heart of what they do is their passionate belief that everyone should have the opportunity to learn ways of managing the common psychological difficulties that we all face at times in life such as stress, low mood and anxiety.
Their website details all the courses that are running currently, a list of resources and you can also volunteer with them if you wish to do so.

Networking Brunch

Volunteering Wales Strategic Grant 2022/23 - Open to applications
The Volunteering Wales Strategic Grant is now open for applications. Applications are made via WCVA’s Multi-purpose Application Portal (MAP).
Grant aim
This fund will
enable a small number (3-5) strategic investments to build on and learn from
the new or enhanced approaches/initiatives for volunteering across Wales.
Enabling the progress that has been made during the pandemic to be further
explored and ‘hard wired’ into ongoing work.
Grants up to 12 months, valued between £50,000 - £100,000 are available.

Carers Wales are Offering Free Emotional and Wellbeing Sessions for Carers
Carers Wales are offering free, online support sessions as part of their Me Time programme.
Me Time are sessions that focus on emotional and wellbeing support through sessions such as stress management and mindfulness for example in addition to information sessions such as carers rights and preparing for a carers needs assessment.

Co-op Local Community Fund
We support projects that make communities fairer for everyone.
Who can apply
You must be a not for profit group and deliver a project to benefit your local community.
You can apply if your project:
- brings people together to access food
- helps improve people’s mental wellbeing
- creates opportunities for young people to be heard and make a difference
- helps people protect local biodiversity or tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions
Your project must also:
- take place in the UK or Isle of Man
- not have religious or political aims (although you can still apply if you’re a religious organisation)
- take place or will still be running after November 2023
Leathersellers’ Fund Small Grants Programme
This is a fast track application process for small one-off grants. It could be particularly useful for funding small projects or to cover unexpected costs. The value of the grant awarded could be up to a maximum of £3,000.
Who can apply
The Leathersellers’ Small Grants Programme 2021-22 will consider applications from charities registered and operating in the UK (including Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO) but not Community Interest Companies (CIC)) that are working
- to provide assistance to vulnerable people in their community
- in geographical areas of deprivation (within the UK) – we recognise all relative measures of deprivation as tracked by the Indices of Deprivation or similar tools. We ask you who your work helps and why this is needed for that group or in that area so you can explain the need that exists there.
- with an annual income of under £200,000 (secured for the coming year)
