Disability Arts Wales - The Big MaDCaff Project Valleys launch

Merthyr Valleys Homes are looking for help in improving the services which they run at Trelewis Community Centre.  Here is a link to their survey   https://bit.ly/2NeVlux 

 They are  also looking for residents to join a residents group at the centre to help our (very) small team to continue to develop the centre and ensure that everything we do is benefiting the wider community.

Ffos y Fran Intermediate Fund - live from next week to 5 September

The Ffos-y-Fran Intermediate Fund, administered by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, will open for applications next week until 5 September 2019. Grants of up to £5,000  will be available for  projects based in the county borough and benefit local residents by having an educational, environmental or leisure emphasis.

Secondment opportunity for charity leader

Lloyds Bank Foundation are offering a 12-month secondment opportunity for a small charity leader.
The Lloyds Bank Foundation Development Team are looking for someone with experience of leading a charity with an income of under £1 million to help transform and strengthen small charities and the future of the sector.
The candidate will explore opportunities for collaboration and sustainability; generate new ideas; help restore ambition in the sector, and identify pathways to promote growth.
The Foundation will backfill the leader’s current post and cover expenses.

A webinar about the post will take place on 28 August 2019 at 11am.

Active Inclusion Fund Information Sessions

Following the announcement of the extension of the Active Inclusion Fund with a further £11.5m of funding, WCVA will be holding a series of information sessions during September to help and support organisations who may be interested in applying.

The sessions are aimed to provide groups with more information and guidance on the application process including what can be funded.

The events are scheduled to take place on the following dates:

Community Buildings Event - Coalfields Regeneration Trust


The Coalfields Regeneration Trust are hosting an event at Llanhilleth Institute on the 18th September.  This free event will be of interest to anyone that is currently managing, or looking to take on the management of a community building. You will work collaboratively with communities, third sector and statutory organisations to tackle loneliness and isolation in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf. You will have direct experience of working with communities and supporting community led initiatives.

Drink Wise, Age Well Programme

 We have a number of fixed term posts, both full- time and part-time, as we look for people to join our team during the last year of this exciting Programme

 Drink Wise, Age Well is a Big Lottery funded Programme predominantly helping people make healthier choices about alcohol as they age. We do this a number of ways by providing direct support for older adults using alcohol; through family support; by raising awareness via public events, through employers, stands, stalls, workshops and media; by building resilience with social and skills activities in the community for older adults,  through structured group work and through volunteering and befriending; by delivering training. We are recruiting and mentoring peer educators and we are also running campaigns to raise awareness, influence policy and tackle stigma.
If you would be interested in any of the above and have the skills or experience needed to carry out tasks such as direct client work, mentoring, community engagement, administration, data entry, reception skills, group facilitation or training delivery or you think that you could be of value as a paid member of staff, please contact us via the details below.
