Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil would like to thank trustees across Merthyr Tydfil and throughout Wales for their valuable contribution to supporting communities and the Third Sector.

Trustees’ Week is a time for us to come together to celebrate the achievements of over 1 million trustees across the UK.

The theme this year is making a difference in changing times. As our external environment continues to change, we face new challenges. The positive impact you make as a trustee is invaluable to a sector that is now as important as ever to benefit society. Thank you for the time, commitment and effort you bring to your charities to help them thrive.

Throughout the week you’ll have the online chance to connect with other trustees to share your experiences. You’ll also be able to develop your skills through the wide range of events, training and guidance.

Both Parents matter - Volunteer Role

 Are you looking for a challenging volunteer role?

“FNF-Both Parents Matter Cymru” are looking for people to help support parents following separation and help them to maintain a relationship with their child/children.

Are you someone who likes to listen? Can you empathise with our service users who are going through some tough times?

All roles are primarily home-based, and contact is via our virtual systems.

We are looking for:

Helpline Volunteers to take calls and collect initial data from callers

Outbound Callers, to gather information on our Service User Packs, to ensure we can fully understand their situation.

Emotional Support Buddy, maintaining contact by phone/text and you can also do this in-person in our face-to-face meetings and social events.

Requirements are:

·      Be a good listener and be able to have empathy

·      Be able to volunteer a minimum of four hours a week.

·      Be able to question and record answers (for some roles).

·      Have access to the internet.

·      Respect client confidentiality and safeguarding for all concerned.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership Board events

 

We are now in the process of developing our CTM Regional Area Plan.  As always, we want to ensure the voice of our communities is at the heart of regional planning

 We have a number of events coming up for people aged over 50, carers, family members and professionals in November.  

 these events, we will look at the challenges and barriers identified for older people, carers and those with physical disabilities and sensory impairments, and together think of ways to improve services and support.

 

2nd November 

 We’d like to invite you to attend a tea dance for over 50s, family members, carers and professionals working with older people. The free event will take place at Cynon Linc on 2nd November between 13:00 and 15:00, and will include an afternoon of listening and dancing to classic songs, in addition to eating afternoon tea together.

A hack-a-thon with two primary focuses: loneliness and isolation, and dementia. 

This hackathon will bring together older members of our communities alongside older people, befriending and dementia services to discuss what it means to be an older person in our communities and what action needs to take place for improvement.
