This is a free festival open to Adults with Learning Disabilities who live across the Cwmtafmorgannwg Region (that's Rhondda, Cynon, Taff, Merthyr & Bridgend)
Date: 7th September

Day starts at 10.30 am
Day Finishes at 4.00 pm

Evening
Start 4.00 pm Band, Single Artist, Duo, Comedian, Sunset Yoga, Disco
Finish 11.00 pm

Food stall: 10 am - 10pm Burgers, Hot Dogs, vegetarian, nachos’s, Candy Floss and Popcorn, soft drinks (cash payments only)

They are offering 

People with learning disabilities the opportunity to stay over it will be in shared accommodation this will be either a Hobbit House, Glamping Pod or Converted Barn House. Each accommodation is shared by 4 people.  Priority is given to People First Members and is available on a first come basis

 L’Oréal Paris and The Suzy Lamplugh Trust have teamed up to bring the expert approved international "Stand Up Against Street Harassment" training programme to UK audiences. 

With over 800,000 people trained worldwide, do not miss this opportunity to sign up. Sessions are free of charge, an hour long and can be booked directly by individuals or companies.

There has been unprecedented demand for bystander training from both the business world and the general public since the tragic case of Sarah Everard. People and organisations want to take steps to address the prevalence of unwanted and aggressive behaviours such as harassment that underly the broader cycle of violence against women and girls, which the Trust has worked on since its inception over three decades ago. 

The programme drives awareness of harassment, upskilling and empowering bystanders across various settings such as public transport, educational institutions, festivals, public spaces, and workplaces, to help defuse situations, discourage harassers, and support victims.

Bowel Cancer UK - Chat Together Programme

 

Chat Together this September – Wales

Join us for Chat Together, our online meet-up for people living with and beyond bowel cancer. It’s a welcoming place to talk to others with bowel cancer and to meet new people.

Chat Together is a free, one-hour weekly call on Zoom with a small group of people who have been affected by bowel cancer. The six week programme is a chance to share experiences in a friendly, supportive and warm environment.

You’ll need a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and somewhere quiet to sit. We’ll send you the instructions on how to join us for our weekly call on Zoom.

Duration:      Fixed Term until 24^th March 2023, covering maternity leave and in line with the return date of the substantive post holder.

Barod are looking to recruit an Assertive Outreach Worker to join the CTDAS Service. The post holder will provide support and community interventions for complex and vulnerable individuals who find it difficult to access services and are at risk of becoming affected by ill health, poverty and homelessness.

Duration:      Permanent, in line with funding.

Barod are looking to recruit a Low Intensity Team Leader to join the Cwm Taf service. The post holder will lead in the delivery of the low intensity service as part of an integrated service. The post holder will also support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operation of the service and general coordination of service components and activity.

The Welsh Charity Awards, organised by WCVA, recognise and celebrate the fantastic contribution charities, community groups, not-for-profits and volunteers make to Wales by highlighting and championing the positive difference we can make to each other’s lives.

Since the last awards ceremony, the voluntary sector has become even more essential. In the face of multiple crises affecting society, charities and volunteers have pulled together to make a difference to the lives of people across Wales.

This is your opportunity to celebrate charities, community groups and voluntary organisations that you feel have gone above and beyond to offer compassion and support as well as vital services within your community.

There are five categories to nominate in:

Volunteer of the year (volunteers aged 26 or over)

This award will go to an individual who stands out by making an extra special contribution to their community or environment through their volunteering.

Young volunteer of the year (volunteers aged 25 or under)

This may be the volunteer who leads and inspires others, or who goes ‘over and above to ‘get things done’.

Digital pioneers

This award will go to a group or organisation which has used digital in an innovative way to make a huge difference to people’s lives.

Wellbeing in Wales

This award will go to a group or organisation that has made a positive difference to their community by improving mental and/or physical wellbeing.

Organisation of the year

This award will go to an outstanding organisation which has achieved a huge amount in the last year and is well respected and admired by others in the sector.

Charity Commission - Annual Public Meeting 2022

 The Charity Commission for England and Wales is hosting its Annual Public Meeting 2022.

You are invited to join our Annual Public Meeting on Wednesday 12 October 2022 at 10.45am.

Our Chair (Orlando Fraser QC), CEO (Helen Stephenson CBE) and colleagues will provide updates and insight into the Commission’s work.

This year’s meeting is a hybrid event open to all members of the public and charity representatives.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR MOVERS FROM MERTHYR AGED 50+ TO JOIN US FOR A FILMED PERFORMANCE.

No experience necessary, our Merthyr Movers will be part of an intergenerational meeting between the present and the past, in an exciting exchange in Merthyr!

You will need to be available for 3 rehearsal sessions (to be confirmed) and then the following dates:

Tue 6 September – studio rehearsal in Cardiff

Tue 13 September – on location rehearsal in Merthyr

Thu 15 September – pre-record scene in Merthyr

We are Collective Cymru, a partnership of Welsh organisations, artists, and writers, led by National Theatre Wales. We’ve come together to produce a landmark creative event for Wales called GALWAD, commissioned by Creative Wales as part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.

GALWAD is a multi-platform story that will be told over digital and broadcast channels and through live events in Wales from 26^th September to 2nd October 2022.

GALWAD will blend conventional forms of storytelling (audio drama, TV drama and live performance) with creative technology, citizen journalism and social media to form a new kind of cultural event in which the audience is invited to follow a story in real-time over a week. www.galwad.cymru
