Cwm Taf UHB are sourcing representatives - are you interested?
The
All Wales Individual Patient Funding Requests (IPFR) policy was introduced in
2011 and its aim is to ensure there is a fair, transparent and consistent
approach to decision making across Wales. Where a medicine or treatment has not
been appraised or approved for use in the NHS in Wales, a clinician can apply
for it to be made available under the IPFR process. This process allows access
to treatments where there is clear evidence a patient will benefit because of
exceptional clinical circumstances.

Following
a ministerial review of the IPFR process in Wales, there is a requirement for
each health board to recruit two lay representatives to its IPFR panel.
Each lay member will be required to fully participate in the IPFR panel
discussions and will have voting rights.
If
you would like to be considered for this role, please submit an expression of
interest detailing how you fulfil the requirements of the role

Oustanding Contribution to Volunteering in Merthyr Tydfil - Nicola Park Award 2016
This afternoon sees the official launch of the Nicola Park Award 2016 at VAMT's Celebration of Volunteering event at the Red House/Old Town Hall.
Please think about who you could nominate - if you need a hard copy, then contact Karen Foley on 01685 353913 or call in to the Voluntary Action Centre.
The closing date for nominations for this year's award is 24 October 2016. This
award marks an outstanding contribution to volunteering in Merthyr Tydfil, and
this year, for the first time, is open to both organisations and individuals.
The award will be presented at VAMT's AGM on 18
November at the Bessemer Hotel in Dowlais.

Need some Help? Maybe the Prince's Trust can be of assistance . . .
The Princes Trust in Merthyr and Pontypridd are are currently looking to do a community project in both areas. It could be a school or Youth Club that needs Painting etc, or gardening done.
The idea of the project is that the Trust fundraise for equipment needed, for example paint and then complete the project.
Projects would need to take place week commencing 17 October and week commencing 24 October .

Quiz Night in aid of Merthyr Tydfil Community Trust
To raise funds for the Merthyr Tydfil Community Trust, VAMT has organised a fundraising quiz night on Thursday 13th October at 7pm at Merthyr Rugby Club.

Merthyr Tydfil Destination Day - 7th September 2016
You may be aware Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council
organise an annual Destination Day to help celebrate the successes of the
tourism sector and promote wider tourism developments of private sector
businesses and stakeholders. This year they are planning on holding Destination Day
Event on Wednesday 7th September 2016 at Orbit Business Centre. The programme (draft below) will start with a buffet lunch between 12pm-1pm and then progressing onto a number of
talks relating to the official launch of our new Merthyr Tydfil Destination
Management Plan 2016-18 and respective marketing tools (video, guide &
website), and update form Visit Wales and other tourism related presentations.
This event will be the perfect opportunity to meet
similar businesses / organisations, gain a better understanding of tourism
developments, both in Merthyr Tydfil and throughout Wales and give you an
opportunity to make significant links with Local Authority staff and wider
stakeholders.
